Diogenes at Off The Record reminded me of the depressing fact that Thomas Gumbleton is still the auxiliary bishop of Detroit -- in this case spotlighting a poisonous sermon of typical Gumbletonian humbug from Trinity Sunday.
As Diogenes says, this "should give ample reason for the folks at the Congregation for Bishops to move his retirement papers to the top of the stack." Gumbleton is truly a spiritual wolf in sheep's clothing. He and his ilk like Rembert Weakland remind me of the Bishop character in C.S. Lewis's The Great Divorce.
