I previously read the article about Daniel Miller. I don't know what to think. Since Arthur Miller never commented about his son, it's impossible to know what his motives were. It was a different era, and maybe he believed institutionalizing the boy was the best way to care for him. Maybe he didn't realize the boy could grow up to be a functional adult. It does seem that, by providing for Daniel in his will against legal advice, Miller was considering his son's interests. At any rate, we can't know Miller's heart and mind and I think it's unfair to judge him for his reaction to a situation we can't understand.

As far as Marilyn, "love the sinner, hate the sin..."

God rest her soul.

What has this to do with the Church? I don't think this "editorial" has any place here.

JEALOUSY IS ANOTHER WORD FOR THIS ARTICLE. MARILYN IS A BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS CREATION OF GOD AND YOU CAN'T REALLY BLAME HER WHEN PEOPLE ADMIRE HER FOR HER BEAUTY AND MANY MEN INCLUDING PROBABLY YOUR HUSBAND WERE ATTRACTED TO HER. SO DON'T HATE HER , IT'S NOT HER FAULT THAT SHE'S BEAUTIFUL.

You make a vaguely valid arguement but your also missing out and being hypocritical as well.

I must say your right in some sense but I also disagree highly as your being biased implying the affairs were purely her fault and then saying they were taking advantage. You can't say both you decide either way.

I agree she had her flaws and was only human like the rest of use but I'm quite sure even you've messed up here. Many people make horrid mistakes and no-one cares. Shes been dead 40 years so surely her morality no longer matters?

People will always wander whether its husband or wife, both are responaible, my mother walked out on my father not the other way.

i wanna be loved by you .. nobody else , but you..

Cindy

I totally agree with you....nobody's perfect...I guess that at the end she was to stoned out of her head....I know that God is a merciful God and only He knows the truth and judge her...or anybody else for that matter... I know that He'll do the right thing to her on Judgement day....

Stop being machist, as far a i know it takes 2 for sex, she did not brake anything, the marriages were already broken thenselves. The men were married, they had the oblication to be faithfull, not her, if someone was braking and hurting it was the married men who could not resist to the sim. And she dont killed herself, the kenedys murdered her, there is plemty evidence of that, even Dimaggio used to sayd that and refuse being in the same ambient of anyone from this family.

"The Stern shots were especially sad, because she was intoxicated during the session." This shot its world wide famous, its considered art and this photos have been showed in many museums around the world (like paris and rio). I myself think they are wonderfull pictures and dont see any sign of intoxication, just the oposite its one of the most beaultifull pictures ive ever seen in my hole life. Sounds like your so impartial and moralist. Forget a lil bit about this blind religion and try to give yourself some pleasure, be more humam, less judgemental, happier.

Someone's words not according with his actions does not make the words untrue. Thomas Jefferson kept slaves. Does that make his statement All men are created equal, false?

arent you sining right now by judging marilyn and then making excuses for her? you will never know what happened. hopefully this is filed under opinion and not fact.

This article amounts to no more than speculative gossip, full of 'I thinks' with no evidence for any of the claims made. People will obviously be judged when they are in the public eye, but any intelligent person will realise that they can never know or understand the full details of people's private lives, and they have no real right to comment on it. I would advise the writer to spend more time contemplating their own thoughts and actions rather than judging those of others. It's also much more interesting to study the art that Monroe and Miller have left behind than to contemplate their personal lives. It saddens me that people are more interested in gossip and scandal than they are in great art.

I think Thomistic is making a valid point about idol worship, insofar as it applies to people, that we as humans, put on a pedastal in place of God Almighty.
Hero-worship is acommon thing in cultures that are basically devoid of contact with Christ.
We seek out substitutes, replacements, that are as flawed and corrupt as we ourselves often are.

Now climb off Thomistic's back.

So what if he's being a moralist?
WE NEED MORE moralists in this pluralistic,all-inclusive disaster that we call a culture;not less.

Lack of moral grounding based on CHRISTIAN principles is what has got us in the mess we're in now, with all the sex problems, diseases, and rampant crime.

Next time you post, say something intelligent,or nothing at all.

How about you growing up and taking responsibility as a Catholic;
Or are you a Catholic?
It sounds to me like you are yet another leftist agent provocateur, jumping on ANYTHING that doesn't promote liberalism, libertine sexuality,or abortionism.
Put a sock in it you reprobate.

Oh, so the men bore the burden of being faithful.Fair enough.
But How does that absolve Norma Jean from being little more than a common whore?
It doesnt. She could have stopped what she was doing at anytime just as easily as the men she was dallying with. The woman was scarlet.
Stop romanticizing a homewrecker.
Especially since we now know all the lurid details.

Simple soul

Getting back to Marilyn I agree she is worth adding to the prayer list.Prayers are a girl's best friend.

Dominic

Why do you insist on praying for a woman who destroyed so many lives with her promiscuity?
