Liberal Wiseguy, John Stewart, Interviews Liberal Blowhard, Chris Matthews, And Makes Interesting Observations About Matthews' Book

From HotAir.com:

Blue on blue usually leaves no one to root for, but not here. Matthews’s book sounds like a standard self-help tome with political metaphors as the hook — “the first impression is the most important,” “smile more often,” etc. Stewart uses it as a jumping-off point for his benignly demagogic populist shtick about authenticity, which is precious in its faux naivete, in the fact that it’s coming from someone who’s in the entertainment industry, of all things, and especially insofar as Stewart himself is quick to disclaim his own authenticity when he’s taken seriously and challenged on his views.

Chris Matthews is a television talk show host for the low-rated MSNBC show, "Hardball", and a former political aide. Matthews has worked for four Democratic politicians. He was a presidential speechwriter for four years during the failed administration of Jimmy Carter.

Recently, Newt Gingrich was critical of Republican presidential hopefuls for allowing themselves to be involved in a debate hosted by Chris Matthews.

"You're watching an utterly irrelevant, shallow television celebrity dominate everybody who claimed they want to lead the most powerful nation in the world," he said.

Gingrich chided "the idea of 10 or 11 people standing passively at microphones," and said he would not "shrink to the level of 40-second answers, standing like a trained seal, waiting for someone to throw me a fish."

He observed: "These are not debates, these are auditions. By definition, the psychology of an audition reduces the person auditioning and raises the status, for example, of Chris Matthews."

Prediction: Matthews' book will be selling "new" for less than $4.00 on Amazon.com within a year. Meanwhile, Ann Coulter's books will still be selling "new" for something very close to their original retail price, as they have for some time now. Ann Coulter (and many other conservative authors' books) tend to sell well initially and retain sales at a higher price level as the books age, while many liberal authors' books can't seem to be given away. Why do you think that is?

Yes, liberal authors make the best seller lists, but it's reportedly often due to wealthy liberals buying lots of copies so as to inflate the sales numbers and put the book on the best seller lists.

Did you really think lots of people wanted to pay more than $20.00 to read Bill or Hillary Clinton's "autobiographies"?

Some interesting observations are made here: John Stossel: How I Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media

Any thoughts?

Comments

Blind following republican party liners think they have a monopoly on the Catholic Faith and disserve the Latin Mass movement, causing some to suspect the traditional movement.

Do you also believe the Iraqis are the "bad guys" and do you defend mercenary world armies like Blackwater?

Any thoughts?

come on... Jon Stewarts political satire has basically nothing to do with Catholicism. He calls the government on its crap, and he is not a partisan. Its no secret that hes a huge fan of McCain, and he's given the Democrats plenty of ribbing, too.

How about you guys stick to covering Catholicism, okay? There are other (and much better) places for political punditry.
