The "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" Lead "Revival Bingo"

Warning: Some content is not suitable for younger viewers. This footage has been posted in an effort to document actual events and is not intended to be offensive to readers of Roman Catholic Blog.

The "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence", a group of homosexual men who wear some elements of religious garb and refer to themselves by titles similar to the names of Catholic women religious, lead "Revival Bingo".

This is footage of the activities at "Revival Bingo" which was apparently done for a long time at Ellard Hall, owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Note: The "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" run website, RevivalBingo.com says the following:

On October 31, 2006, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were informed that we could no longer rent Ellard Hall by the Parish Council President, Nick Andrade. This was both a shock and a surprise as we have worked very closely with Most Holy Redeemer Church to provide fundraising services for both the Church and other beneficiaries.

The site then adds:

WHY DID BINGO LOSE ITS LEASE? At this time, we do not have any information on why we lost our lease. We ask that you be fair and kind to members of the Church and hold no hard feelings to them or their congregation. We want to thank you for your support and look forward to bringing back Bingo as soon as possible for both the players and the revenue it generates for our beneficiaries.

Our official statement regarding this unexpected cancellation of our lease as follows:

SAN FRANCISCO, 31 October 2006 — The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are stunned and deeply saddened by the Archdiocese of San Francisco's abrupt cancellation of their lease for Ellard Hall, the location of their charitable monthly bingo fundraising event.

The Sisters want to apologize to the organizations that depend on our support, including the AIDS Emergency Fund and the Positive Resource Center. Both of these worthy organizations were to be the recipients of this week's proceeds, however due to today's decision by the Archdiocese, we will no longer be able to hold bingo. The Sisters would also like to apologize to the SFPD Pride Foundation, UCSF AIDS Health Project, Saint James Infirmary and Tenderloin Tessies Holiday Feed, all of whom were scheduled to be beneficiaries for future bingos. And, of course, the Sisters extend our apologies and regrets to the many players who purchased tickets and were anticipating many more joyous evenings of fundraising.

The primary mission of The Sisters is involvement in and support of the local community. This includes working with and supporting many local community organizations whose ability to serve their constituency is dependent on contributions from charitable groups like the Sisters. Without the thousands of dollars raised by the consistently sold-out monthly bingo event, their services may be cut at a time when charitable giving is more critical than ever.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence believe that our commitment to giving is in alignment with the philosophy of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, which represents a cross-section of the San Francisco population. It is unfortunate and extremely disappointing that this appears not to be the case, and that our shared values cannot overcome our differences of opinion when it comes to how we serve the community.

James,
Your logic isn't. If my parents were verbally and physically abusive, do I get a license to beat my children and sexually abuse them on top of that? And then blame my parents?
Neither do promoters of public sexual perversity get a free pass even if homosexual behavior IS (which I doubt) a symptom of prior generations' infidelity in their marriages.

As per the last post: Yes, Mona Alona! But Islam with it's polygamy has nothing to do with Christianity either. Christianity=the TWO become one flesh. AND: I don't know any gay groups who bomb people. Again, straight marriage is in the garbage. We have to clean up our own house in order to have a leg to stand on. Sincerely, faithful Catholic

James,

Please don't say you are a faithful Catholic. You may call yourself one if that fools or salves your conscience, but your not.

A faithful Catholic would find it more difficult to stray so far from the Teachings of the Church. A faithful Catholic does not throw out red herrings to divert attention from what is pleasing to Almighty God.

Your red herring will not work when you face Almighty God. Love all sinners, married, and people who struggle with same sex attraction. Hate the sin. Adultery, homosexual acts, and the destructive fantasy that same sex marriage is pleasing to God.

Surround yourself with enough people who have fooled themselves and your responses are the outcome.

Just a few years ago, you would not have felt so comfortable to attack God's truths. You probably call it progress. It's not James.

How sad that you call yourself faithful. Real love is truth. Please read the Catechism of the Catholic Church and stop fooling yourself. Not any one of us is better than the other. What is better James is the truth. Pray the rosary and the Memorare to the Blessed Mother. Our Lady will magnify the truth, ("My soul doth magnify the Lord") of what is pleasing or displeasing to God. When the Master returns to call you home, don't gamble with your eternity because of weakness or pride.

I have friends, (and a relative that died from AIDS) who still struggle with this. I love them, I treat them with the dignity and respect that the Catholic Church teaches. I love them too much to pretend that sin is now acceptable due to the decline of morality in society.

The relative that died from AIDS converted and was baptized a few months before he died. Rosaries were prayed constantly for him. Right before he died he looked up towards the ceiling and said, Who is the beautiful Lady? We all felt that Our Lady had heard all of our prayers. My relative use to sound just like you James. When it comes down to the end, people don't play games with the truth. They desire Eternal Life. Not red herrings about same sex marriage. The necessary tool to "clean up all sin" is the truth that Jesus left.

Very intelligent comments, all of you. Regardless of where you stand on this, doesn't most of this rest on what Scripture says: Train up a child in the way he should go,and when he's older he shall not depart from it??? (Proverbs 22:6) How can children turn out the way parents want if there's 50% broken homes? What if there was an airline where 50% of their planes crashed?? Come on! THEREFORE, I have nothing but compassion for Sisters o Perpetual Indulgence. And they don't offend me the least because of what Matthew 16:18 says(no worries)

James Husa,

Sequential morality is just another form of moral relativism. A retreat from morality. A failure of conscience.

As per the last post addressed to me:I'm not sure what Bill is referring to. But anyway: there's no doubt a domino sequence effect of immorality.

But everyone finger-points.

Complaint: gay men dressed up put on vulgar displays at Catholic bingo.

QUESTION: Why do we host Bingo(gambling)to begin with? What's gambling have to do with Christianity?(outside of Roman soldiers gambling for Christ's clothes at the cross)

ANOTHER QUESTION: What's Evolution got to do with Christianity? The Church allows for Creation? Baloney. Evolution is taught as a FACT. We're monkeys.

LAST QUESTION(coffin nail of my argument): Why have our priests molested children? Yes,the percentage is small. I bet Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's percentage is zero.

In summary: It's not about throwing out red herrings. It's not about denying the truth.

IT IS about criticizing hypocricy. If one is a hypocrite, they don't have a leg to stand on. Hard to condemn wacky behavior at Church when 75% of "Catholics" aren't even there most Sundays. I'd be ashamed to say ANYTHING.

Faithful Catholic
