Notice the good bishop at first just imparted a blessing. Then words were exchanged and the Eucharist was hastily given.
I am not sure if I want to know what was said. Blackmail anyone?

Possibly

Maybe the guy in the nun outfit was asking for the bishop's phone number.

It seems like a fair question to ask the bishop what was said in those moment.
It seems to me that they were given communion for a few reasons. Political correctness and non-judgementalism. Who was the bishop to decry the actions of their group and costumes as unacceptable? How dare he be judgemental and refrain from giving them communion; after all, he can't see into their souls and discern their intentions. That wouldn't be the accepting, loving thing to do, would it?
Cowardice and fear of making a scene. It could be quite embarrassing to get into a scene at that moment. The easier, quicker thing to do would be to just give them communion and get them moving on.
Either way, I hope the public disgrace he brought to himself shows him that his actions were neither kind, accepting, non-judgemental, or expedient. He'll be remembered for this the rest of his life.

It is the clergy let along the Bishops responsibility to safeguard and protect the sacred, especially the body of Christ
This just once again shows the seminaries since Vatican II have graduated liberal clergy who know little and belive less in the sacred and honored tradition of the church
If the Bishop knew anything about the mass, the reason the eucharist is raised during mass is because the church's were so packed in the middle ages that the laity wanted and demanded to see the true consecration take place, and the bells etc
Today with the new mass and all that takes place, it is all one big travesty

In the letter we sent to Archbishop Niederauer we have asked him to repair the damage done by this scandal. This letter was received by him on October 29th at 2:30pm. We have yet to here a response. It is the duty of every Roman Catholic of good faith to approach the bishop and demand that he do his duty. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BISHOPS WHO ARE CATHOLIC AND WILL DO THEIR DUTY. His pathetic apology with the admission that the SPI are mocking the Roman Catholic Church and should never have been given Holy Communion, make it necessary for him to warn them and then make it clear that remaining a part of that occult and sodomite organization is totally incompatable with being Roman Catholic. Anyone who remains in this or other organizations like it will incur automatic excommunication.
He must also remove Fr.Stephen Meriwether as Pastor of Most Holy Redeemer. He has fostered an atmosphere which welcomes those living a perverted lifestyle to feel completely welcome at that parish without repenting of that lifestyle. Among the various pervesions allowed to take place at that "Catholic" parish is baptism of adopted children of "gay" couples. Niederauer is responsible for using Catholic Charities to push for adoptions by gay couples within the archdiocese.
Enough is enough!

I totally agree with the previous statement

Frank,
Come on now. How old does the bishop look to you? He had to have graduated, or was already in seminary, when Vat. II was going on.
He definitely was not a product of this Council, although he may or may not have contributed to the nonsense that has gone on since then.

I have no idea how old he is but for some reason the clergy are willing to jepordize and hand out the body of Christ to anyone, and I can only think it is because they themselves dont take their own profession seriously (this starts at the seminary level) and this translates to them not truly beliving in transubstantiation
With eucharistic ministers and communion in the hand does anyone really care? (I have attended traditional masses where you have to kneel and an altar boy protects under your chin to ensure nothing ever hits the floor or misses the intended tongue)
I recall just a few months ago where supposed eucharists from Pope JPII wer being sold on e-bay and the only way someone could have gotten these is from communion in the hand

Is it wrong to look back with fondness on the days when freaks like these would never have even made it through the doors of the church in the first place? Days when the men of the church--and 60 years ago when I was a boy, REAL men still went to church--would have excused themselves from the pews, rolled up their sleeves and beaten these pathetic clowns until they ran off while their feet could still carry them?
Why does any bishop, priest, or lay person give these fools any importance whatsoever?! Get a pair, your excellency, and throw them out onto the street! Seriously, what in God's name has happened to the Church?!

he gave it to him because it is your job as christians to love and understand EVERYONE as your lord and savior did! maybe if youre church would come out of the dark ages and realize its 2008 and do what jesus told you to do the world might be a better place instead of having hate in your heart. when you stand at the gates of hevan remember you are going to have to answer to god and i hope he turns you away and says "THATS NOT WHAT I MEANT."

Luis-
So we're supposed to love everyone, but it is ok for you to hope we go to Hell because we disagree with you?
It is every sincere Christian's desire that all people turn from their sinful lives and embrace God and His commandments:
"If ye love me, keep my commandments" John 14:15.
