Here's the story: KCBS Cover Story: Keeping the Faith
Quote:
In October, two members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of gay mock nuns in the Bay Area, caused a national commotion when they received communion from the Archbishop of San Francisco at Most Holy Redeemer Church in the city's Castro district. The controversy has pulled back the curtain on a deep division within the Roman Catholic Church that leads from the Bay Area all the way to Rome.
Some angry Bay Area Catholics, including one secretive sect, have started shadowing church leaders to document what they consider sacrilege and heresy. They may be a minority among American Catholics, but they say they have a sympathetic ear in Vatican City and, thanks to the Internet, their influence is growing.

Classic. Everyone has a right to express their frustration...but I think these groups are going too far.
Of course, he doesn't say what exactly was said or done that was "too far", but we must take his word for it. He admits that he was wrong for giving the "sister" communion, which is all these groups were saying in the first place. Ah, good bishop, what exactly constitutes "going too far."
Same nonsense, different day.

Things change slowly, very slowly. But one chink leads to a crack, which leads to major changes. Prayer is a definate constant.

Since when are some guys with a video camera a "secretive sect?" The person who wrote the story is attempting to make bloggers sound more ominous than then they deserve.

Exactly, Patrick. Giving out communion during mass in a packed parish isn't really an act which one might think one has a reasonable expectation of absolute privacy. I'm not very supportive of people filming others at any/all possible moments, by the way.
Classic blame the victim strategy: the problem isn't what was done (giving communion to the mock sisters), but the fact that others are watching, filming, and being judgemental.

Sorry, "blame the messenger" strategy.

How can anyone object to the filming of an archbishop giving Communion to these nutters, who are out to make a mockery of the Church? Honestly. If they don't want to be filmed, they should dress in a reasonably normal way and behave themselves.
