Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Ark which God has Sanctified
The ark which God has sanctified,
Which He has filled with grace,
Within the temple of the Lord
Has found a resting-place.
More glorious than the seraphim,
This ark of love divine,
Corruption could not blemish her
Whom death could not confine.
God-bearing Mother, Virgin chaste,
Who shines in heaven's sight;
She wears a royal crown of stars
Who is the door of Light.
To Father, Son and Spirit blest
may we give endless praise
With Mary, who is Queen of heaven,
Through everlasting days.
(from the Stanbrook Abbey Hymnal)

Dear Loy,
Thank you for that submission. I am wondering about the foreign inscription on the bottom painting. What language is it, and what does it say?
The top painting looks like it was done by an Italian (of course !!!) maybe Raffaello?
The bottom one looks like the Apostles at her going up to heaven. Is the little fellow tugging on her stole Jesus? Do the figures in the corners represent angels or some particular saints?
I often find that there are some fascinating bits of trivia to be found in these old paintings.

Sam,
The middle painting is a Coptic ikon of the "Dormition" of the Blessed Mother. I don't know what the words say in Coptic.
Loy
PS - The painting at the top is by Tiziano Vecelli or Tiziano Vecellio (c. 1485 – August 27, 1576), better known as Titian, leader of the 16th-century Venetian school of the Italian Renaissance.

The Faith of Mary made her reach to the peak in her spiritual journey in her earthly life: Her Assumption to Heaven Body and Soul. We hope one day we will share with her, who is our eschatological icon. Here is a very nice poem on the "Faith of Mary":
