Irony in Oregon...

Archbishop criticizes Kulongoski on abortion rights fundraiser

by The Associated Press

Tuesday September 30, 2008, 2:34 PM

SALEM -- Archbishop John Vlazny is criticizing Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Catholic, for playing host to an abortion rights fundraiser Friday night in Portland.

Vlazny, head of the Archdiocese of Portland, said it's an embarrassment and a scandal for Catholics that Kulongoski is hosting the event two days before the church conducts its annual "Respect Life" mass in Portland to show opposition to abortion.

"For a Catholic governor to host an event of this sort seems a deliberate dissent from the teachings of the church," Vlazny said in a statement today.

Kulongoski is a longtime supporter of a woman's right to choose an abortion.

"The archbishop is the governor's pastor, and he has only respect and admiration for the archbishop," Kulongoski spokeswoman Anna Richter Taylor said. "They obviously disagree on the issue of choice."

The full article can be read at:

http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/09/archbishop_criticizes_kulongos.html

Here's the salient quote:

The archbishop hasn't refused Kulongoski permission to receive communion, archdiocese spokesman Bud Bunce said.

However, Vlazny today called abortion a "grave evil," and urged Catholics to contact Kulongoski's office about Friday's fundraiser "to remind him of the demands of personal integrity as a member of our faith community in the exercise of his office."

The governor's office hadn't gotten any phone calls as of this afternoon, Richter Taylor said.

Kulongoski

Here's the kicker:

Kulongoski (pictured above) was raised by nuns in a Catholic orphanage in Missouri.

Let's see, in the dark repressive days before Roe V. Wade many women actually carried their pregnancies to term and gave the babies up for adoption or to orphanages.

Does anyone see the irony, the sick irony of this?

Gads!

I wonder if I'd ever win an election -- or win re-election -- if I hosted a fundraiser for the slave traders of Sudan? And I wonder if this Governor would have a moral problem with my doing this? Where is the cry of hypocrisy from the media types who think hypocrisy is the only real sin anymore? There's no cry because the left loves and approves of this Judas; in fact, they want more of them.

I just have to wonder how long the Bishops are going to carry on like this until a consistent, faithful course of action is followed. If the bishops aren't going to do anything, can we at least get a nun from the Order that raised him to please go to the Governor's Mansion and pull him to Confession by his ear!!

Musings on the World of Mathematical Objects, the Existence of Transcendent Ontological Principles that Defy Mathematics, in GOD and in HIS Creatures Even at the Natural Level, and Why We Must Never Procure Abortions.

The news of the discovery of a 13-million-digit prime number by UCLA mathematicians is really interesting.

I have always had an interest in very large numbers and number theory and the many, in fact in theory, the infinite number of possible future discoveries, patterns, and relationships among numbers in number theory.

The really cool thing about “numbers” themselves, especially positive integers is that one has to admit that they are relevant to absolutely every entity that exists. For those who believe in a Holy Trinity as God as I do, due to my Catholic upbringing, I have to say that the Three Divine Persons are simply that; “3″ Divine Persons. Obviously, one can arrange these Persons in terms of the set of subsets of the Three Persons with the number of elements being equal (2 EXP 3) - 1. One can form the set of subsets of this set of subsets and so on to produce sets with infinitely many subsets.

For those who believe that each human being is an individual, or that each human soul is an individual entity, as well as the same for each angel, a similar argument applies.

It does not matter whether we are Atheists, Agnostic, Catholic, Born Again Christians, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, New Age, or whatever, we can all realize how ever present are numbers within the very order of creation and in the entire physical and spiritual cosmos.

Numbers are that intangible reality, that although embodied within even any spiritual realities, are not known to be spiritual realities in them selves. Neither are the numbers known to be physical realities. They seem to have their very own form of existence or being.

Knowing this should not cause those who believe in an absolutely ontologically simple God as I do to fret, for GOD created the numbers themselves, thus leading to the conclusion that God is even more ephemeral, sublime, and mysterious then any reified object of a number or reality of ordinality.

Just as physicists and cosmologists have perhaps an infinite universe to explore, so there is also and infinite mathematical landscape of topology, geometry, number theory, etc to explore.

Since the number of numbers in the set of the Cardinality of Aleph 1, which is the infinity that defines the number of real numbers, is larger than the cardinality of Aleph 0, the number of integers, there is an infinte number of relations between both the real numbers among themselves as well as between the positive integers among themselves. There are also an infinite number of species of algebraic equations, integral equations, differential equations, partial differential equations, integrals, derivatives, harmonic series, and the list goes on and on. There are also an infinite number spatial dimensions in abstract space and an infinite number of classes of manifolds in the infinite dimensional space.

The numbers of such mathenatical objects that can be contemplated by humanity is limitless, and thus, there is a whole eternity for mankind to explore the wonders of mathematics, which although perhaps being created by God, are the existential principles that underwrite the existence of all creatures, and the inter-relations between creatures.

Realities that defy being numbered or explained mathematically such as Truth, Beauty, Goodness, Love, Wisdom etc. completely trancend mathematics or ordinality. We do no speak of there being only one moral truth, because there can be an infinite number of aspects or laws of moral truth. Also we define the Moral Truth Incarnate as an aspect of God. The same non-ordinality applies to all of the other ontologically transcendent realities such as wisdom, goodness, peace, life, love etc. So all you artists who fear math, do not fret, because there are higher realities then math, not just as aspects of God, but also aspects of our moral, ontological, and existential makeup as Children of God.

Other aspects of God that involve ontological transcendant principles are justice, mercy, purpose, existence, pure being, and perhaps the list goes on and on in an eternal never ending series of terms. We do not say that there exist just; one justice, one mercy, one purpose, one existence, or one pure being (as distinct from the concept of One God), nor do we say that there is any finite number or infinite number of justice, mercy, purpose, existence, pure being etc. These realities of God or aspects of God are realities we can partake in the life of supernatural grace, but also are inherently aspects of our nature as it exist without grace since every human person is made in the image and likeness of God. Yet these aspects defy ordinality.

Now, it is a concept of modern theology that even though God is infinitely superior in every virtue than the entirety of all creation combined, God is not the total of all things that exist. God is not you, God is not me, God is not the cosmos or universe or the multiverse, but has created such in a manner that is obscure to us and maintains such in existence by his almighty will by an utterly effortless act. However, since God’s creation and creatures contained within actually exists, otherwise it would not have been created, we can safely say that God is not the sum of all existence.

Perhaps the act of God in creating His creatures, although not necessary for God’s existence or being, nonetheless gives Glory to God in some way that His activity of creation, and the ever growing set of first principle creatures such as Human Souls, and perhaps intellegent extraterrestrial souls, as well as the ongoing development of universes and fractal multiverses according to the Theory of Chaotic Inflation, adds to the totality of the ontological quality we refer to as existence. Reality evidently is more than God, since there are real things that God created that are not God Himself. Note, that I am in no way a panthiest, thus, I believe that God is totally seperate, distinct, and transcendent of His creation including every creature that exists and ever will exist. However, because of the above reasoned argument, I am force to conclude that the Sum of all existence goes beyond God, and is composed of God and all of His creatures combined.

For all of those Catholics who are using methods to prevent the conception of a Child during sexual intercourse such that the prevention of the conception of a child in situations where such a child’s conception is inevitably set into motion, your acts are not only preventing the existence of the human person that is not concieved as a result, you are preventing the creation of the first principle of a human soul which in each and every case, is directly and immeadiatley created by God.

I may be going out on a huge limb by making the following statement, but if by chance there are any intellegent extraterrestrial races out there that somehow monitor Earth’s entire communication infrastructure and become aware of this posting, or any members thereof, when you prevent the conception of a Child or abort the process by which the creation of the soul by God of the member of your race that you prevent from comming into existence, you deny the existence of that soul for all eternity. You not only do a great diss-service to the person, body and soul, that would otherwise exist, but reduce to growth of the set of all created first principles and thus offend and do harm to the Glory of God. That member of your race, who you would have prevented from comming into being, will deprive some angel who would have been the child’s gaurdian angel from having a beloved gaurdee which the Gaurdian Angel would otherwise have had the opportuinity to cherish, love, nurture and protect. Even though angels do not exist in space and time, and have no body or brain, because they are pure spirits, they nonetheless are deeply loving, sensitive, and affective creatures, that I am convinced are capable of deep hurt, sadness, and sorrow.

When a rational person, composed of body and soul is aborted, that child will not have the ability to grow in grace in the normal manner in this life although God, being all loving and merciful, I believe embraces every aborted child and brings the child into the loving fullness of His Glory, being that the Child was martyred through the murderous acts of abortion, and in some manner, must have let out a horrible death scream as he or she was being aborted. The mother’s warm and soft womb is the perfect shelter and sanctuary where the growing child is secure and loved and this sanctuary should and must never be violated.

May the Good Lord bring all of You into the fullness of His Glory including all living Humans, those Souls in Purgatory, all living Intellegent Extraterrestrials, and any angels who may become aware of this posting, who, as known only to God, may have just been created but who have not yet definatively chosen for or against God.

GOD BLESS YOU!

James Rich says... "I just wonder how long the Bishops are going to carry on like this until a consistent, faithful course of action is followed?"

James Rich is starting to see the light. I believe he has been praying to the Holy Spirit for courage and wisdom. The Bishop's don't need to do a thing as long as there are Catholics who defend years of inaction. Bishops must be encouraged to not just talk the talk. The Bishops must be united in walking the walk.

Jamesawakening, Can you imagine if more Catholics united in challenging and supporting these Bishops to take action and defend the Blessed Sacrament and the unborn?

These Bishops don't have to do a thing as long as there are people who agree and defend years of talking, without some action.

For example: What happens when the father of a household continually tells his disobedient children the rules of the family, but never takes a disciplinary action when the children continue to flaunt their disobedience for years?

The answer is chaos and more disobedience. The entire family suffers. Imagine the frustration of the obedient children when friends of the father tell him, "You're doing a great job, don't change a thing, it's your household, run it as you wish". Then the friends of the father say "If anyone tries to let you know that the family is out of control, even if it is out of love, tell them to mind their own business."

James don't be the father's friend who never challenges this father to be more courageous and finally take an action.

This is what the Mareks did. How about writing the Bishop in the story above. Maybe you can praise him for his words but encourage him to be courageous in actions.

These efforts are often fruitful. You'll never know unless you try. Once you see the incredible outcome of such a small gesture, you will be braver in Christ than ever. I have never met the Mareks but I have met the fruits of their kind of love and persistence.

James I think you are getting some of the filling back in your chocolate eclair!

The governor's office is not telling the truth. I know someone who called him immediately after the Bishop's remarks were made public.

Will the archbishop follow up with a strongly worded letter?

AC,

Apples and Oranges.

James Richinpride returns, Apples and Oranges? The Rocky Mountain news endorses the well connected Colorado, Catholic pro-abort Governor Bill Ritter for his "funraising ability" for the past two years in Archbishop Chaput's Diocese.

Governor Ritter restored state funding for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, signed legislation that requires all Roman Catholic hospitals to distribute emergency contraception to rape survivors, and pledged that he will not seek to appoint judges who appose abortion. To date, Governor Ritter has no anti-legislation on his agenda. Ritter has also made it clear that if Roe v. Wade were overturned, he would veto legislation that is "too restrictive" against abortions in Colorado. Ritter also supports gay marriage.
The Catholic Church condemns all of Gov. Ritter's Right to Life beliefs. This Governor is not only the same as the Governor above...he's ten times worse. The Mareks thought so too and respectfully asked Archbishop Chaput if he was going to enforce Church Canon Law 915 while you were "wondering".

Apples and oranges you say? This Governor has been publicly warned and had columns written about him by Archbishop Chaput for over two years and still no action while Governor Ritter defies Church Teaching and assists grave evil.

The Mareks did something while you told them to mind their own business. I guess that you wanted to "talk tough" on a new topic about your "wondering" and have the women (nuns) fix it. Are you sure that the nuns shouldn't be minding their own business James? James, where are all of the brave Catholic men? Why are you not doing anything? Oh, I'm sorry I forgot...."Your too busy criticizing and "WONDERING"!

Keep praying to the Holy Spirit for courage and wisdom James before you criticize others and want women to do the courageous fighting for you.

James Rich, I think that your statement above, "I just have to "wonder" how long the Bishops are going to carry on like this until a consistent fortified course of action is followed," speaks volumes about you. Stop "wondering" about evil and criticizing others who take action and do something. "Wondering" is for fantasyland at Disneyland.

James pay attention once again to the fact that you expect the women(nuns) to be the ones on the battlefront taking the Governor by the ear for confession, while you sit back and "wonder" about things. Pretty weak Jamesrichincritcism of others! I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Now, I have no doubt that you are not culpable. No one would intentionally embarrass himself as you have.

AC,

You can drone on and on, but you're comparing apples to oranges. Sorry if you can't follow it, but that's not my problem or shortcoming.

..and, by the way, I didn't tell the Mereks anything. You're working yourself into a lather.

James Rich in criticizing others and doing nothing. Shortcoming? That's putting it mildly. How about cowardly? I'll take passionate lathering in defending good Catholicse any day over a know it all coward who does nothing while telling good Catholics with courage to mind their own business.

James, you told the Mareks to mind their own business, at least give them the courtesy of spelling their name right. You spelled it correctly when you were being a know it all. Remember how Our Lord said that the "lukewarm will be chewed up and chewed up and spit out". You could use a little lather James. It never replaces a backbone but it's a start.

Well you got your Bible wrong again, I see. You might want to read Revelation again--just the first four chapters, though, and you'll find it. Maybe you should spend your time reading it a bit more, then perhaps you won't go quoting it so incorrectly.

Second, I never told the Mareks anything, ever. You can ask them. I never told Arch-Bishop Chaput anything either. You can ask him. You and I have spoken, but that doesn't mean I've said anything to any of the parties mentioned in the article. I would expect someone grounded in reality to know that. I see now where I made my mistake with you.

This will be my last response to anything you ever write. I see my giving you any attention has not been in your best interest or in the best interest of this website. Best of luck to you. I really do wish you all the best; but this ain't good for you or this site.

Best wishes.

James Rich

James Rich, Thank you for your best wishes.
Several years ago a very holy priest from the Vatican came to the U.S. on a fact finding mission. I had the privilege of meeting this priest. This was right before the scandals became public.

This very holy priest said that Rome "knew" how bad things were in the U.S. The priest said that Rome was waiting for the laity to speak up against the corruption and error within the church.

A few years ago Cardinal Arinze came to Kentucky and my friend's husband chauffeured the Cardinal while he was there. The Bishop in the area at the time was not good. Cardinal Arinze said these words to my friends husband "I know that your Bishop is very, very bad." Do you see James, people are supposed to speak up. It is their business.

I am not saying that Archbishop Chaput is bad. Archbishop Chaput has not joined his brother Bishops in enforcing Canon 915 though. Archbishop Chaput showed weak judgment and error to vote for Jimmy Carter as a priest so maybe he still struggles with courage. It is a good and faithful action to encourage Archbishop Chaput and other Bishops to be united and to enforce Canon 915 as the Mareks respectfully asked. The laity plays such a very responsible role. The Mareks are excellent examples of what good Catholics should do.

It is very sad that your pride would not admit that it was uncharitable and weak to criticize laity who stand up for truth by telling them to mind their own business. You can dodge your phrase "it's none of their business all you want but you said it"! Magnify your apathetic remark by 100 James and then you wont have to ever "wonder" how long Bishops are going to carry on like this.

Try to speak up for the injustice James. The Mareks did just what this priest who was sent by Pope John Paul, asked them to do. Please don't ever tell someone who does the right thing to mind their own business.

Best Wishes also,
AC

PS
I loved your tenacity....please just apply it to the right side next time!

In consideration that the soul is to be considered the substantial form of the body, there are several aspects of the soul as such which imply the sublimity, beauty, and other great qualities of the human soul which are discussed below. When we prevent conception in situations where the possibility of such is determinably on course to occur, we prevent the comming into existence of a human soul. Other than any unknown ways in which God would give the soul a chance to be created in the future, this revocation of the possibility of the existence of the soul is final. This is why the morning after pill is so evil especially when the pill prevents conception.

1) Physical matter, physical energy, or physical mattergy has its own unique stability, or should I say more appropriately meta-stability, wherein it exists with its own fundamental rules of existence, at least at the level of physical accidental properties. Since the soul is to be considered the form of the body, in the sense of Platonic or Aristotelian forms in the ontological sense, the soul must have at some level a reflection of physical mattergy’s unique stability that is eternal, changeless, and substantial that is a first principle, eternal form of such stability in physical mattergy even if physical mattergy ultimately proves to be naturally destructible such as by any future discovered laws that violate the law of the conservation of mattergy.

2) The existence of other conservative laws in the set of qualities possessed by physical mattergy such as the conservative laws of electric charge, momentum, spin, baryon number, and others must in some way be represented in an ontologically substantial matter within the substantial principle of the human soul. These additional principles point to qualities of the soul that are irreducible in the sense of aspects of the ontological characteristics of the human soul.

3) The quantum indeterminacy of ordinary physical matter at the molecular, atomic, sub-atomic, and sub-nuclear levels must have its analogue within the ontological characteristics of the human soul by which such indeterminacy is paired with an analogous principle in the ontological characteristics of the human soul. Since human free will is considered to be one of the accidental properties of the human soul, but perhaps its most profound or highest faculty and as such is considered almost as if it is a complete nature in itself, this freedom mirrors the quantum indeterminacy of the behavior of mattergy at the quantum level, except in a substantial and spiritual manner. Since the human free will is a faculty of the human soul, there must be some underpinning of such a faculty within the being or essence of the human soul which is substantial, and an aspect of the fundamental quality of the soul by which the soul is a first created principle.

4) The existence of any quantum mechanical hidden variables must also have an analogue in the form of hidden substantial and ontological aspects within the human soul. In some deep and fundamental manner, the human soul in its ontological qualities must represent the untouchable, unreachable, and sublime aspects of any hidden variables within the quantum mechanical aspects of mattegy. These fundamental aspects of the human soul are most probably not fully discernable by us in the present life, but rather must be seen and known by God. The analogues of such hidden quantum variables point to the ontological and existential richness of the human soul at a substantial or essential level.

5) Assuming the Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum theory is correct, the human physical body is giving birth to entire parallel histories constantly for each act of quantum de-coherence that occurs within the human body. The continual compounding of the existence of the set of entire parallel cosmic histories should have its analogue in the human soul which is the substantial form of the body. As a result, there may be some aspect of the human soul, by which its very continued existence, is constantly multiplying itself or compounded itself in a substantial manner, or at least in an accidental manner, whereby its existential and/or ontological richness and/or existential and/or ontological size is continually growing.

6) Although the human soul has been long held to be simple and un-extended, perhaps the complexity of the human body is reflected in the accidental properties of the human soul, such as the tremendously large set of thoughts, memories, emotions, feelings, acts of will, conscious experience, etc., and sub-components and sub-structures thereof. This tremendous number of elements and inter-relations thereof as accidental properties of the human soul must point to the existential and ontological size of the human soul at a substantial level in order that the soul can contain and underwrite the existence of this huge set of psychodynamic elements.

7) Another aspect of the richness of the substance or ontological nature of the human soul as the substantial form of the body flows from the fact that this form must be the form of a body that is composed of electrons, quarks, gluons, photons, electro-dynamic fields, etc. within the sub-atomic composition of the human body. The molecular, atomic, sub-atomic structures of the human body add to the body’s complexity and richness and this richness is reflected within the human soul as the substantial form of the human body. A similar, but less fundamental substantial richness of the human soul as form of the body flows from the multiplicity of living cells within the body as well as the body’s tissue structures and organs.

8) The existence of any composivity in the constitution of quarks and electrons within the atoms of the human body would entail yet another degree of richness within the existence and substance of the human soul.

9) Einstein, in his theory of special relativity, held that any location in time in the universe was coupled to a point in three dimensional space and thus time is not viewed as a separate dimension compared to space. The union of time and space in ordinary 4-D special relativistic space time is the result. Accordingly, the present or what can be considered the present time at a given location is from a special relativistic standpoint of no special significance, but rather is simply one location of the totality of space time which extends into the past and into the future along the temporal axis. The special relativistic equation of a point on the 4-D coordinate system is as follows:

dX1 exp 2 + dX2 exp 2 + dX3 exp 2 - [c exp 2]dt exp 2

Note that the value of (icdt) can in a sense be viewed as an imaginary representation for dx4.

The point I am trying to make is that the past, in a real sense, exists according to special and general relativity, at least according to Einstein, an so in a sense, it might be said that the human body grows in the 4-D space time as it ages, the growth being along the temporal axis dimension. Since the soul is the substantial form of the body, it might be said that the existential and ontological richness of the human soul increases in value or ontological extent to the extent that the soul remains united to the body in this life. The same might also be the case when the soul is reunited to the body at the Final Resurrection of the Dead.

10) Note that the math for general relativity is more rigorous and difficult than in special relativity and the ramifications of the general relativistic frame work are still being worked out, some examples of which are the ongoing mathematical study of wormholes, exotic space propulsion concepts involving warp drive, amd the like. Also, attempts are being made to unify general relativity with quantum mechanics in terms of a unified field theory. Theories of higher dimensional space time such as the 26 dimensional space time of Bosonic String Theory and the newer versions of string theory involving 11, and 10 dimensions are the subject of ongoing investigation and will be one of the active areas of research at the Large Hadron Collider of CERN when this particle accelerator is repaired after damage sustained from a faulty circuit failure during its initial start up this past September.

Other theories involving higher dimensional space include the theory of branes for which in some versions, there are an infinite number of dimensions. A lot more can be said about the trends in modern theoretical physics and cosmology, but a detailed discussion of such is not the focus here. What is the focus is that as we learn ever more about the physical world, we also learn more about the matter and energy that makes up the human body, and this sheds more light on the existential and ontological richness of the substance or the essence of the human soul.

What a great thing the human soul is! We accordingly should cherish all human life from the very moment of conception. God would have sent His Only Son to Walk to Calvary and die on the Cross for each one of us separately over and over again if such was necessary, and our Lord Jesus would have complied out of Love for each and every one of us as individuals on an individual basis.

Because of modern science, we can envision the human soul with all the greater fascination, mystery, and awe. From the Catholic Catechism, we can be assured that the human soul is spiritual, immortal, radically endowed with free will, immediately and directly created by God, rational, and not reducible in analysis to the mere material. The ever growing knowledge and power of physicists to probe the secrets of matter, energy, space and time, should not frighten us, but rather should give us hope in the continual and ever growing awareness of just how great our souls are.

Take care of your body and brain, but above all nurture your soul. Boldly anticipate the wonders of discovery yet to come from the fields of cosmology, physics, medicine, biology, etc. Take some advice from a spiritualistic oriented physics guy, those who yearn for the sense of the spirituality of the human soul and all its splender will not be dissapointed. However, you may be let down by the loss of the sense of the spiritual in others that seems to have even pervaded modern Catholic Theological trends. I believe our Lady of Fatima has warned us about such trends. When we start to believe in materialistic beliefs about the spirituality of the human soul, we lose a sense of the special thing that conception and procreation entails. Sadly, I think Satan and his minions are having a field day simply because people have largely lost faith in human souls and the pure spirits known called angels.

May The Good Lord Bring You into the Fullness of His Glory.

Best;

Jim

Clarification; The correct formula is as follows;

dS exp 2 = dX1 exp 2 + dX2 exp 2 + dX3 exp 2 - [c exp 2]dt exp 2

Well this is to be exspected from liberal democrats who also agree in gun control, more government control, higher taxes, abortion, and no death penalty. It was the republicans who freed African Americans, led the Civil Rights Movement, and gave Native Americans the right to vote, which I am proud to be of Cherokee descent.

Lucem hominem et servabat baptitae aquae.

You should really change the name of this blog to the "Holier Than Thou Self-Righteous I've Got All The Answers Hate Blog" It would really be a more accurate revelation of what your blog is all about. Your hate and name-calling doesn't deserve the name "Roman Catholic."

Shut up atheistic fruitcake!!!
