It's sad that it was covered up. Why do this? I really don't know whether it was Obama's preference or the University's preference, though common sense would suggest Barack.

I think Barack is more Atheist than he gets credit for. For example, saying things like how America is no longer a Christian country. Of course you could make the argument that this is technically more true now than 50 or 100 years ago, but it is nothing more than an empty rationale.

Anyways, expect former Christians and Atheists to come to his defense on this one.

The US was never a Christian country, period. I am a VERY devout Catholic but I know that statement is very wrong.

Also, I find it horribly offensive when people call him "the messiah" in a mocking tone. Not offensive to Obama, but offensive to Our Lord. And I find it especially sad when people who are supposedly devout and good Christians use this as a slur, so to speak. Maybe we should rethink what it means and what we are doing.

And before anyone jumps on me, I am a Conservative Republican who voted for McCain.

I'm not sure it was covered up, at least when I viewed the picture and looked at the video. Clearly the stage for the video was set up by the Obama Administration, as I've seen it a million times. (You know, a podium with about ten US flags in the background.) It was not Notre Dame's podium, so IHS was never there to cover up.

I suspect this is the podium with the built-in teleprompter and screen that allows his aides/advisors to text message him information directly.

What's up with Obama's fixation on getting rid of the conscience clause? Last time I looked at the polls, there wasn't majority support for it. Someone shed some light on this issue.

Some people have argued that Obama does not want to use religion to further a political ideology. However, Obama did
evoke the Sermon on the Mount, at this Georgetown appearance, to further his economic agenda. Although Obama failed to mention Jesus Christ by name for the Sermon on the Mount.

“There is a parable at the end of the Sermon on the Mount that tells a story of two men…‘the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house…it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock,’” Obama said.

“We cannot rebuild this economy on the same pile of sand,” he added. “We must build our house upon a rock.”

The last statement is particularly ironic since building your house upon a ‘ROCK‘ means to build your house with Christ as the foundation. Obama decided to blot out the real foundation from the timeless parable.

The irony can't possibly be missed that the rock the house is built upon is Jesus and his teaching/words, and Barak chose to blot out Jesus' name.

What is soooo extraordinary is the incredible pettiness of the whole thing. It's gratuitous. No one could possibly see the emblem on the TV screen from that distance, yet it still had to be gotten rid of. Why? Why the need to do such a thing? Only a hyper-partisan would go to such lengths to do what he did.

And I agree. I don't blame Obama. I blame Notre Dame's Administration, who seemingly allowed -- or actually performed -- the blotting out of a symbol for Jesus.

Hey, it was professional jealousy.

Sarcasm aside, it's a dangerous thing for a self-proclaimed Christians to be ashamed of Our Lord's Name. Matthew and Paul warn us of this type of foolhardiness.

It's one thing to ask such a thing of a Catholic University, so-called. It's quite another for a Catholic University to acquiesce to such a request.

Sharon is right. Perpetuate the ridiculous "messiah" analogy, but then cry foul when the administration tries to avoid any type of association claiming the same? Can you imagine the field day some people would have with Obama speaking, and the word "Jesus" engraved up high behind him??

Satan cannot stand in the presence of the name of Jesus either! Hum

How valuable for me, believe that it will attract lot of people's love.

Time spent agonizing over budget figures is time wasted. Even if miracle of miracles! Yours are honest and accurate, no one else will have been so foolish. Did you agree with me?
