It is absolutely a distain that woman look down on a mother caring for her baby. Motherhood is often viewed by young professional, and even middle age professional women as not being independent, not being cerebral, or somehow not being cool. My knowledge of such women from what I have seen in those who I have known, been affiliated with, or aquainted with is that almost always, these woman are not nuns, and often jump from relationship to relationship even in cases where such women are Catholic.

However, guys need to step up to the plate also. If you are not going to get married to the woman you love or would like to have as a girlfriend, then do not have sex and do no cohabitate. Not having sex means no petting, no oral sex, and the like also.

Woman would do well to admire the womanhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary who in several Church approved apparations has revealed Herself to be the Queen of the Universe and the Queen of Heaven, also the Queen of all Angels (which are not human), and the Queen of all Saints.

In Her alledged apparitions at Medjugorie which are still controversal, she refers to Herself as the Queen of the Cosmos. When a Catholic Priest author described an interview with one of the seers, and asked what does that mean, the seer said that the Blessed Virgin Mary is Queen of absolutely all creation. She is the Queen of every thing not God. She is the Queen of absolutely everything created.

If I am not mistaken, either at Medjugorie or at another Apparition site, Our Lady has alledgedly stated that Her Maternal Love is so strong that in some uniquely special and examplar manner, she desires to become the Mother of All Creation.

Rest assure, for all of you indepenent types of woman who distain marraige and the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, Our Lady did not and that she is of the singularly unique and ultimate form of purity and does not look down on Motherhood. She is the Mother of God in Jesus' Human Nature and if I am correct, She is destined to become the Mother of All Creation.

Mothers have a unique role in that they nit the body of their children within their womb and absolutley no other creature can claim that distinction. These bodies are destined to become eternal glorified and spiritized bodies that will rise incorruptable on the last day. There is a special bond between a mother and child that can never be broken. While Priests, consecrate the Sacred Host and Wine into the Body and Blood of Christ in the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass, Our Lady literally grew the entire human Body and Blood and Rational Brain of Christ in Her womb for 9 months.

We are all by grace part of the Mystical Body of Christ that will exist forever, long after the last Mass is said and long after the Last Sacramental Confession is heard.

Women ought to be proud that Our Lady is really Full of Grace, more so then any other creature and some would say, more so than all other creatures combined.

With such a role model, all women who mock the low income inner city woman who have several children yet refuse to have an abortion when they get pregnant should realize that these poor woman's children are also Children of Our Lady in a spiritual sense.

Modern professional society needs more respect for motherhood. As a fully heteroxexual middle age man,although I am single and plan to stay that way, I am always impressed by the purity of married Catholic women who live by the Vatican Rules regarding artificial contraception. Even young unmarried mothers seem to definately have a sexual purity that far outshines mine. Women, and mothers in particular seem to have an uncanny ability to integrate their sexuality into a pure and selfless form of affective and spiritual life, something that I am sure Our Lady is proud of when it does occur.

Roe v. Wade occured in 1973, by a Republican appointed Chief Justice, during the tenure of another Republican president. For
36 years now, 7 out of the 9 supreme court justices have been appointed by Republican presidents. From 2000 to 2006 every branch of our government was controlled by so called"pro-life" politicians who did little or nothing to end abortion, even though they pandered to the Catholic vote on this issue. There is plenty of blame to go around, but we are never going to end the heinous practice of abortion by simply endorsing one political party and condemning another.

I blame Reagan and Bush Sr. for nominating justices whose pro-life bona fides were not clear. I've always secretly suspected that Establishment Republicans -- not that Reagan was one of those -- were never really interested in overturning Roe v. Wade because many weren't that opposed to it and because of the feared backlash that would result at the ballot box.

But to say Bush Jr. didn't do squat is not correct, Pat Mallory. He got two very staunchly pro-life Justices on the Supreme Court, helped to get rid of Partial Birth Abortions, and ceased to fund abortions and family planning services limited overseas. I guess when you said "nothing" you meant not enough. And right at the point that perhaps 4-8 more years and 1-3 more appointments would have put Roe in play we lost to Barak...the antithesis of a pro-life politicians.

Your logic, and theirs, is however specious. The Supreme Court "controls" the abortion issue in this country. The White House exerts influence thru its appointments. Obama actually campaigned on the danger of having Republicans make appointments to the court in the next 4-8 years.

On a host of issues - not just abortion - the liberal left, the G*dless liberal left, will use the judiciary to foist upon the populace positions that could never be won at the ballot box.

Finally - the sacraments were "politicized" when pro-abort politicians like Biden, or Pelosi, or Kennedy, or Kerry had the blasphemous audacity to get in line for Communion and profane the Sacrament!

a problem with that argument is I don't think the punishment for enslaving someone is death... and I'm pretty sure the child has the right to face his/her accuser.

The question here is that we have to ask ourselves: are we really against abortion, or do we want to simply get up on our self-righteous high-horses and proclaim to the world our pride. If the abortion issue is politcal, as many here have suggested, then let's demand that the politicians who have run for office on the pro-life stance do something to end it instead of postulating.

This completely removes love or higher purpose from the picture. The "fetus" is not another human soul, not the child of its mother but a something that just happens to be inside a woman's body. The language suggests that freedom means serving yourself and your desires. It turns an ethical matter into a political one.

It's hilarious because this kind of thinking is what is looked on with respect as intellectual progress.
