This version of the footage contains extra material that is even more appalling than the previously available footage!
If you have trouble seeing the footage here using your browser, you can also see this footage directly on YouTube here: Halloween Mass
This new footage includes:
Footage of liturgical abuses, such as the use of inappropriate vessels for the Holy Eucharist.
Footage of Fr. Fred sitting down, while the extraordinary minister of the Eucharist dressed as a devil continues distributing the hosts and getting more herself from the altar.
A witch singing the Responsorial Psalm.
Parts of the homily (where Fr. Fred is describing past costumes the priest has worn), as well as Fr. Fred's admission that someone dressed as a devil was an extraordinary minister at the previous Mass. Fr. Fred exclaimed, "Only at Corpus Christi does the Devil himself become a Eucharistic Minister...you knew we were twisted!"
Fr. Fred is seen introducing the Lord's Prayer by saying: "As goblins and ghouls, we raise one voice: Our Father, who art in heaven..."
There is also footage of Fr. Fred dancing with a witch while he (Fr. Fred) is dressed as Barney (during the costume procession before the end of the Mass).
"And when I return, shall I find any faith upon the Earth?"
Maybe......but certainly not at Corpus Christi in Aliso Viejo.
What a travesty. Did the priest also sing the goofy Barney song? Interesting how all this goofiness and blasphemy is okay, but Gregorian chant is considered passe...

I just watched the footage. I think this is about as
appalling as it gets! I hope the Vatican acts. Shame,
shame, shame on the Diocese of Orange!

Geez, this was Mass? And here I thought I'd stumbled into the video of somebody's Hallowe'en party!
I think it's particularly revealing that the priest says that only in this parish do you have the devil himself distributing Holy Communinion. "You knew we were twisted." Father, that is the understatement of the year. May God have mercy on all of them, priests and parishioners alike, because it doesn't say much for the parishioners that they stayed through that travesty.

Halloween masses were celebrated all over the country, not just Corpus Christi, one was even celebrated at my church. It didnt seem or appear to be so blasphemous as some of you may have characterized it. It appeared to be in the spirit of the mass and did not deviate from the mass service other than the "normal dress" for the children. I dont recall any adults in the congregation wearing any costumes, just children.

The trouble is that people think that the Devil has horns and is red. The stupidly of people who believe that is worse than the pastor who allowed such a Mass.

The Bishop must close that church and reconsecrate it. What took place is blasphemous. God Have Mercy on that priest and the people who participated!!

I didn't hear the goofy Barney song, but just before the costume change (5:10), you can hear the theme song to "The Addams Family" TV show.

NovusOrdowatch
a website deatil the abuses of the New Mass
This will include this Mass, Im sure
This Priest is a Heretic & someone should openly speak out AT MASS.

Well, BlackOps, if no adults wore costumes at the Mass you attended, it patently WASN'T the same as this one.
No one here characterized YOUR Mass as blasphemous, they charatcerized this specific Mass as blasphemous.
If you don't find the idea of a person dressed as the Prince of Darkness distributing the Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, King of the Universe blasphemous, than Father Barney has accomplised his purpose (and that of his master...)

OK laity, you are all applalled...but, NOTHING will be accomplished if you don't speak up...blogging is the sharing of thoughts and ideas...letters are the actions that get results...if we elect to passivley sit on the sidelines, it WILL continue...and the Father Freds and Bishop Browns that are throughout the U.S. will continue to allow this paganism...e-mail 10 friends in Christ, ask them to e-mail 10...and so on, but get the message to write to:
Archbishop Pietro Sambi
Embassy of the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See.
3339 Massachusetts Avenue NW,
Washington, DC 20008
It's time for action, laity...let your voice be heard beyond the blogs!
God bless you all!

ED look at the "church" it looks like an improvisation of a classroom (note the chalk board as Fr "Barney" leaves).
The Bishop shopuld just close it, and if he fails to do so the nuncio should order it closed.

I think the Mass is celebrated in temporary facilities because their church building is under construction.
Posted by: amy | Tuesday, November 07, 2006 at 11:59 AM
I contacted the Pro-Nuncio's office and it seems as if they did not know about this Haloween Mass. They were very receptive and understanding. The number is: 202-333-7121. I spoke to the Archbishop's secretary, Maria. I also forwarded the link to her. For those who have more direct information, you might want to email her at: Maria at
[email protected].
Let's make sure that this never happens again. We should all be outraged.

The church building may be under construction, but the "Church" at Corpus Christi is self destructing!!!!!!!!!!!11

Just sent my copy of this to the papal nuncio's office by e-mail, with a request that it be investigated and forwarded on to Rome. Hopefully if they get enough reports of this blasphemy something will happen.

Absolutely vomit-inducing. How sad! All participants should be disciplined.

This pastor certainly was not a "man apart". Brought tears to my eyes...How can any person allow this to happen? It's completely appalling! WHEN WILL THE ABUSE STOP? Everyone should say their rosaries for this parish.

I just can't believe that the congregation not only stuck around for an entire blasphemous travesty such as this, but they actually laughed continually at Fr. Fred's lame jokes. Unbelievable.

I like to call them the Orange County Mass Choppers.

See what Harvey Potter did? Everyone accepts this now. No one in that church seems concerned. The bible says anything associated with witchcraft or sorcery is an abomination to God. Why would anyone much less a priest allow that to happen in Church? Doesn't he know that the Devil is for real? TIME FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE TO START WEARING YOUR ST BENEDICT MEDALS AND SCAPULARS AND PRAY THE ST MICHAEL PRAYER!

Watching the video is even more compelling than the still shots.
This is just absolutely incredible. What's more incredible is if Bishop Tod Brown had any prior knowledge of this Mass taking place in other years.

Actually, it potentially says a lot for the parishioners. Too many Catholics think that they should simply go to a parish where they are comfortable. Don't be so quick to judge the parishioners. We don't know that many of them aren't staying and prayerfully working to remedy the situation.

There is no 'spirit of the mass.' Anything which distracts from or does not enhance the celebration of the sacrifice at the altar should be avoided, right? I don't know why parishes continue to allow this sort of thing. Host a halloween party on halloween, host a halloween party after mass - why does anyone think it's okay to make the sacrifice of the mass a halloween party? What does this say to our children? Does anyone consider the implications? Blasphemy or not, encouraging halloween costumes at mass is a bad idea.
