Note: All underlined words are links to supporting articles. Click the links to see the supporting articles. The articles linked near the end of the post are important, because they demonstrate that Archbishop Niederauer is a progressive, "gay-friendly", Catholic bishop who has endorsed Brokeback Mountain, is soft on homosexual adoption, defended a priest who preyed on teenaged boys, has been slippery about Nancy Pelosi's pro-abortion stance, and has refused to deny Ms. Pelosi Holy Communion.
I watched the O'Reilly Factor's exposition of The San Francisco Sacrilege, which involved the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" being given Holy Communion by San Francisco Archbishop, George Niederauer.
You can watch the story, which was covered in two segments on Friday, October 12, 2007, at the top of the show:
First Segment: Talking Points Memo
Second Segment: San Francisco Values?
I was disappointed to hear Mr. O'Reilly turn the entire story into a critique of San Francisco politicians, but not because those politicians don't deserve criticism. They do. Nancy Pelosi marched in a "Gay Pride" parade alongside Harry Hay, "a fierce advocate of man/boy love". Click here: When Nancy Met Harry
San Francisco politicians also deserve criticism for allowing events featuring criminal acts involving public nudity and public sexual contact in full view of minor children, like those that occur at the Folsom Street Fair, to take place without police intervention.
I was disappointed because Mr. O'Reilly gave Archbishop Niederauer a complete pass, and the most charitable reason I can offer is that he covered the story without looking any deeper into the situation. O'Reilly is either unaware of or completely ignored evidence of Archbishop Niederauer's progressive, "gay-friendly" agenda – an agenda I will document below.
Look, there is honestly no way that Archbishop Niederauer didn't know that men in drag were presenting themselves for Holy Communion in protest of Church teaching.
Homosexuals have been protesting at Catholic Mass for a long, long time. I was stunned to hear O'Reilly say he'd never heard of anything like it. I have, and it was much worse.
The militant homosexual group, ACT-UP, organized it's first "Stop the Church" protest on December 10, 1989 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, in New York. It was estimated that 4,500 ACT-UP and WHAM! members gathered outside St. Patrick's Cathedral to protest the Catholic Church's perceived "homophobia", and Church teaching with respect to so-called "safe sex education" and legal, elective abortion. 111 activists were arrested at the event. Some activists entered St. Patrick's Cathedral, and interrupted Mass. These activists threw used condoms at the altar, chained themselves to the pews, chanted slogans during the Mass and/or blocked the aisles by laying down on the floor. At least one member of ACT-UP received Holy Communion and spat out the Sacred Host in an act of protest against Catholic teaching on matters of sexual morality.
I'm surprised Mr. O'Reilly doesn't remember this, given the fact that the event received wide media coverage which, rightly, did not reflect well on ACT-UP. Here is the New York Times story on changes in tactics within ACT-UP as a result of the protest: Rude, Rash, Effective, Act-Up Shifts AIDS Policy
There are other homosexual activists who protest Catholic teaching using the Holy Eucharist during Mass to get attention. The Rainbow Sash Movement is another such group, and their activities have been well publicized in Catholic circles. "[Rainbow Sash Movement] members wear a 2-inch wide ribbon of rainbow colors across their shoulders (a symbol of the modern homosexual movement). They then present themselves to receive communion in Cathedrals and parishes across the nation in protest against the Catholic teaching that those who publicly and stubbornly persist in living in serious sin, or in promoting heretical teachings, may, and should be denied Communion by the minister of Communion." They generally do this on Pentacost Sunday each year. The Rainbow Sash Movement has been criticized by Cardinal Francis E. George of Chicago, who said they should be denied Holy Communion, and embraced by liberal prelates like Cardinal Roger Mahony, whose close friendship with Archbishop Niederauer dates back from their time together at St. John's Seminary.
All of that being said, this is the angle O'Reilly neglected: There is tension within the Catholic Church between "progressive" priests and bishops, who are at odds with Catholic teaching on homosexuality, and orthodox priests and bishops who support authentic Catholic teaching on human sexuality. This editorial by Matt Abbott is an indication of that: The ‘Rainbow Sash Movement’ Controversy
Perhaps Mr. O'Reilly is unaware of these things, despite being a professed Catholic.
Still, there were a number of things Mr. O'Reilly left out of his report, possibly because he is not aware of them, but it was still disappointing, given Mr. O'Reilly's abilities and resources which should have enabled him to provide thorough coverage of the San Francisco Sacrilege.
Here are a few examples of the ways in which Mr. O'Reilly's coverage was deficient:
Claims that Archbishop Niederauer is simply a doddering old man who was easily confused are specious, at best. Niederauer could not possibly have been confused about the fact that men dressed as women wearing religious ornamentation presented themselves to receive the Most Holy Eucharist. One of the men was clearly wearing a headdress that was a modified version of those worn by traditional nuns. Both men were wearing clown make-up and were clearly presenting themselves as men dressing as women.
Moreover, the Archdiocese knows about the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and knows of their involvement at Most Holy Redeemer Parish, which is known for its homosexual-friendly atmosphere and involvement in homosexual activism.
Here's evidence:
The "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" Lead "Revival Bingo" at Most Holy Redeemer Parish Hall
Most Holy Redeemer Parish had a booth at the Folsom Street Fair and has participated in "gay pride" events for many years.
Here's evidence:

I must warn you that parts of this linked YouTube video detailing Most Holy Redeemer Parish involvement in a "pride" parade are obscene. (Note: Gavin Newsom, the mayor of San Francisco, makes an appearance): "Gay Pride" in the Archdiocese of San Francisco
Where Is Archbishop Niederauer?: BBC To Broadcast "Gay" Mass From San Francisco
Scandalous San Francisco 'Gay Pride' Pastor and Chancellor Back in Saddle after "Leave"
Bill O'Reilly was wrong to let Archbishop Niederauer off the hook, because Niederauer is a progressive, "gay-friendly", Catholic bishop. Here's evidence:

"San Fran. Archbishop "very happy" about plan regarding homosexual adoptions"
"San Francisco Archbishop Niederauer Says He Doesn't Know Nancy Pelosi Stand on Abortion"

Bill O'Reilly has done a lot to expose people who hurt children. Here' why I'm surprised he was so quick to give Niederauer a pass:
Current San Francisco Archbishop Niederauer Defended Molesting Priest
I'm also surprised that Mr. O'Reilly used video in his report that exposed Niederauer's comments about giving Holy Communion to Nancy Pelosi, but neglected to correlate Niederauer's soft stance on Pelosi's well known pro-abortion stance with a progressive agenda on Niederauer's part. That's hard to overlook. I suspect he ignored it because he was forcing the story to fit an angle, but his angle focused on San Francisco politics, and Pelosi was mentioned in his story. It really does seem O'Reilly deliberately ignored evidence that Niederauer did something wrong.
For the original video, used by the O'Reilly Factor, which was not made by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to embarrass Archbishop Niederauer, but rather, by an organization which sought to expose the corrupting influence of those sympathetic to the homosexual agenda within the San Francisco Archdiocese, click here: Video: Catholic Archbishop George Niederauer Gives Communion to Blasphemous "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence"

Ask him to dig deeper and let the public know about these other factors.
Any thoughts?
Thomistic
You are dead on, but have you ever thought that the so-called "Catholics" in the news media are also so bent on liberalization of the Church that they are willing to "horse trade" the Church allowing communion to homosexuals for say, an annulment or two?
If you condemn one you must condemn all and these that are in the media. Even those that appear to be "conservative" really dont know their faith. Sean Hannity unwittingly exposed that about himself a few months ago.
The only true Catholic anywhere to put his money where his mouth is happens to be Mel Gibson with all of his so called crosses he bears, including addiction. His love of our Lord is apparent.
Pat Buchanan is a close second, in my mind.

It seems like O'Reilly is not all that bothered by homosexuality. He appears to be against the militancy. Surely he knows how homosexual-friendly much of our hierarchy is. In any event, this evil has been exposed big time. And even O'Reilly may be forced to confront things he hasn't wanted to.

I am very grateful that Bill O'Reilly was outraged at the sacrilegious display.
Mr. O'Reilly needs to view the Sisters of Perpetual Help, hosting "Revival Bingo" in the basement of the same parish church.
Mr. O'Reilly needs to be informed that this was business as usual.
The only militants forcing this scandal are the Lavender Mafia within our Church. They have embraced the homosexual lifestyle in its fullest, flamboyant expressions... feathers and all!
I'm sure that Archbishop Niederauer breathed a welcome sigh of relief when Bill O'Reilly chalked up this scandal to the archbishop's "old age". Sometimes being old comes in handy!
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were invited to host "Revival Bingo" at the church. The parishioners seemed to love it. Watch the video. The only reason that Archbishop Niederauer ended the blasphemous bingo was that it was exposed in the media as being allowed at Most Holy Redeemer parish by Catholic priests and leadership.

i cant quite understand why Bill was so intent on bullying the theologian on his show, and i do think his anger at the columnist was a bit out of proportion. I guess bill happened to stumble onto a good point here, but i still think hes a bit of a bully; the Catholic Church can do much better than him as a mouthpeice

Bill O'Reilly is very much afraid of offending the Queers. Countless times he has said it didn't matter to him whether or not they are in a civil union or marriage...Sometimes O'Reilly can be ok, but most times I find myself disagreeing with him on how he portrays matters in the Catholic church. None of this surprises me in the least.

I'm thrilled that it made the Factor - radio and tv. RE: homework - this story is so deep and so complicated that even I have trouble keeping up with all the players and their sacrileges - and I do this hours a day.
Bill is just unaware of all of the connections - and I'm glad he didn't wait to do the hours of "homework" he would have to have done (and the full 1 hour show it would take to explain it) and that it was reported on Friday - instead of next week.
He's waiting for additional info on this - he said that Fox would get thousands of emails on this. Everybody send him a key point (that he missed) with a good descriptive subject line.
I was disappointed that Anthony Gonzales didn't recommend excommunication for the Sisters when Bill asked what was going to be done by the Church. I'd also love to know who, precisely, in the Church is doing the investigation he spoke of.
Anybody know?
Thanks, Bill - for getting this into prime time. Now we can do something with it.
God bless.

I am saddened you cannot find a more charitable perspective for sharing with your readers the conditions in which my Archbishop, Archbishop Niederauer, ministers. Get a grip
The Bishop is a heretic
Posted by: Frank | Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 09:20 PM
marjorie - I couldn't help notice your post -
you cannot possibly know the history of this man - your archbishop -and defend him.
So,
First, he DID in fact know of their activities at Most Holy Redeemer parish for the past 12 months. (this was the reason he cancelled their Bingo nite and removed Fr. Steve Meriwether as chancellor of the Archdiocese.)
Then, his office was contacted by many, by phone and email, asking to cancel the Drag Queen Show hosted at the parish the night of Sept. 29, 2007. He did nothing.
He had been asked by phone, letter and email by many, and for months, to get the Sisters removed from the parish hall where they held monthly pornographic and perverted bingo nights. Finally, and only after the blogs got going on the story, the Sisters were told that their lease had been cancelled.
http://romancatholicblog.typepad.com/roman_catholic_blog/2007/10/the-sisters-of-.html
That was one year ago.
Now he says he doesn't know or see anything?
He said, in his apology that he didn't see anyone dressed as a nun -
(the link to the photo)
http://romancatholicblog.typepad.com/roman_catholic_blog/2007/10/catholic-archbi.html
He knew of the previous activities at the parish - he knew of the Sisters of PI, and he didn't recognize a problem when these 2 people approached him for Holy Communion?
Is the man blind?
He has know about the Castro Street Fair for YEARS -
and he decided to preach a weak and non-committal homily on that day, and, knowing exactly what he was walking into - he gave these people the Body and Blood of Christ? To people who publicly parade around mocking the teachings of the Church at every opportunity? to people who belong to a group of homosexuals whose motto is, "Go and sin some more"? To people who publicly condone sodomy?
This is the truth about AB Neiderauer
AB Neiderauer is militant-gay friendly and predator-priest friendly
http://closedcafeteria.blogspot.com/2007/10/archbishop-niederauers-letter-on-behalf.html
AB Neiderauer cancels the Sisters lease agreement at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in 2006 (he knew them well) People had been complaining about this for months - only when it reached the blogs did AB Neiderauer tell the parish to cancel the lease.

Most Holy Redeemer parish hosts Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Porno Bingo

Please read this information. Please read the documents. Please watch the video links. What part of this is not accurate or true?
He had an obligation to address the horror that's been going on in that parish for years and he did nothing but scandalize Catholics across the country.
If those 2 claim to be Catholic, then they needed to be refused communion FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR SOULS and the souls of the rest of the congregation. AB Neiderauer had an obligation as the Minister of the Eucharist - the one whose responsibility is to protect the Blessed Sacrament from sacrilege and scandal - he had an obligation to God and to us all. He has failed to teach the truth. He has failed to "instruct the ignorant and admonish the sinner". He has failed to correct his priest, Fr. Steve Meriwether.
He has done nothing to stop this sacrilege that has been going on since long before his arrival. He's is a disgrace to the Church and the faith.
"A fool like Jesus," - Jesus never sat by silently and watched, nor did he ever participate in, the desecration of His Father's temple, as AB Neiderauer did last Sunday.
And, re the video of the event. It was not taped by the Sisters. It was taped by people who have been contacting AB Neiderauer's office for the past 12 months begging him to stop the sacrilege that has been going on at this parish for years. They finally took matters into their own hands to expose the disgraceful actions (or inactions) of this bishop.
And, you mentioned that MHR has "served the neighborhood". Yes, they serve the perverted sexual habits of defiant homosexuals, and they raise tons of money for AIDS victims (that they help to create by their silence on the teachings of the Church). They DO NOT serve God. They serve each other.
But, we need not be concerned. There are no children at the parish to continue this travesty. And most of the parishioners participate in or promote homosexual activity, which means that they will die at an early age. May God have mercy on their souls. They should be praying for strong leaders in His Church to teach the truth to the lost, especially the poor souls at Most Holy Redeemer and in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. But first, AB Neiderauer needs to be removed.
Now, please, please prove me wrong.

Once again, Thomistic, you have done a great service by pulling together this exhaustive rebuttal to Bill O’Reilly’s report on the O’Reilly Factor. While O’Reilly did bring this story to a national audience — a good thing, since the secular press has been ignoring it — he was well wide of the target.
O’Reilly is a bit of a gasbag, and his rage at San Francisco politicians and the mainstream press in The City came in such gusts that it ended up blowing his story completely off course. If there’s a connection between San Francisco city hall or local politicians and two drag queens showing up and receiving Holy Communion at a Catholic church in the Castro, it was lost on me. These weren’t elected officials or political operatives, and the Eucharist was freely given by the archbishop.
O’Reilly excused Archbishop George Niederauer for giving Communion to the two buffoons from the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” because Niederauer, according to O’Reilly, is too old to recognize them — or some such ridiculous rot.
Niederauer can’t possibly be happy with such a crushing assessment, and it leaves him with a rather nasty either-or. Either he’s too old and senile to recognize heavily made-up and bizarrely-dressed homosexual men in nun drag, as O’Reilly postulates, or he’s simply a heretic and a jackass. Kind of a lose-lose proposition for the archbishop.
If Niederauer is so demented that he can’t recognize the blasphemous “Sisters” when they present themselves for Communion, then he needs to retire as archbishop. He’s obviously no longer up to the job, if he ever was. What kind of shepherd is he if he can’t recognize the wolf approaching his flock?
What kind of shepherd, indeed? I think we already know the sad, shameful answer to that question, given his history of defending known, convicted molester priests, his ardent support for homosexual causes and his steadfast refusal to deny Holy Communion to a brazenly pro-abortion politician.
And he’s a charter member of the Lavender Mafia from St. John’s in Camarillo, to boot (along with other West Coast stars such as Roger Mahony and Tod Brown.) Niederauer and his fellow travelers up and down the West Coast must be relentlessly pursued by truth squads until they’re all exposed and, finally, removed from ministry.
Windbag Bill O’Reilly can be good on occasion, but he blows hot and cold. Too often, he blows himself completley off course. The high winds associated with his passing, however, tend to blow the dirt, shrubbery and other protective cover off and bad people tend to be exposed and end up scurrying for places to hide.
Fox News likes to repeat its slogan, “We report; you decide.” In hurricane O’Reilly’s case, he huffs and puffs, blows and howls — but we still get to decide. The Niederauer story was at least given national exposure.
It’s an ill wind that blows no good.

Great post on Bill O'Reilly's page:
"Presidential Hopeful Mayor Giuliani has made Headlines across the Country For being Catholic and not having his former marriage annulled and being Pro Choice. Many Catholic Priests have stated that he no longer able receive Communion. All he has to do now is Move to San Francisco, dress up like a Nun in drag and he can receive communion as often as he wants."
Now that's saying it like it is.
The Church, under Bishops like AB Neiderauer, is no longer one, holy, catholic, and apostolic.
Benedict - now is the time to excommunicate publicly, for the sake of the Church.

Hannity and O'Reilly are examples of what Christ spoke of when he stated the lukewarm would be spit out of his mouth.
We should have the courage of our convictions 24/7. That would mean to put our beliefs first, not just chuck them into the closet when our professional lives require passively ditching out Catholic principles.
I'm sure most here are aware of the pharmacists who have been sued for not dispensing the "morning after" pill, though they DID tell the customer where they could go to get them. We need to follow their example, putting our faith first and foremost.
We're certainly not getting that example from our bishops. Have to find it within ourselves.

For anyone who is interested in viewing what the ultimate consequence is when personal holiness is slowly watered down, and eventually removed from love of neighbor in the supernaturally inseparable "two greatest commandments" as taught by our Divine Master, one need look no further than Exhibits "A" and "B" -- S.F.[Babylon by-the-Bay], and the poor
Vatican Monsignor who wouldn't know what personal holiness is if it was personally delivered by the Angel Gabriel himself.
Word to our holy father: is this the "filth" you were referring to? If so, the grace period is up. It's time to REALLY clean His house.

O'Reily is so full of himself. I used to think O'Reily had half a brain, until I heard him refer to himself as a catholic and felt that he was in a position to give Pope JPII advice on how he should move on beyond the his middle aged views on contraception and homosexuality and focus more on the sex abuse scandal in the church. He's the poster child for a partisan blow hard who does more harm than good to the conservative movement.
Posted by: Shelray | Monday, October 15, 2007 at 10:53 PM
I think he is just like most Catholics today, who dont want the church or anybody telling them about contraception or morals and when they do tell them to clean their own house first
But they have a point, if one had a parent who is supposed to guide you and SAFEGUARD-and never change teachings with regards to faith and morals constantly changing "In the Spirit of Vatican II" and reinterpreting everything, and they themselves on top of that were homosexuals themselves-why would you repsect let along listen to them????

I think even though O'Reilly has a lot of resources, he still depends on the reliability of his staff. It seems in this case, his staffs fail him. It is as simple as that.

Unfortunately, this is one of the most (if not THE most) blatant and egregious examples of what is seeping out of the Novus Ordo "Church" and being winked at by Rome. From the liturgy to the music to this.
Pray for the Church and get out. The Novus Ordo "Church" will change any- and everything but the ongoing heresy, apostasy, and sacrilege.

I'm actually very happy about this, and all good Catholics should be, too.
Here is why:
A public heretic, when corrected and who ignores that correction, becomes a manifest heretic.
The unchangeable law of the Catholic Church is that a manifest heretic loses all office and status in the Church, whatever it may be. Which means that George Niederauer is no longer an archbishop in the Roman Catholic Church.
Of course even Fr Ratzinger and all of his Novus Ordo schemers are guilty of countless acts of public heresy, many much worse than this.
This San Francisco homosex religious hate crime spree is a great good thing for the true Church. It shows how only the true Church is persecuted while all false religions are pandered to, and it turns people off to the Novus Ordo hierarchy. As people investigate this decadence, more will learn about sedevacantism and see how all of this began with Vatican II and the papal elections of October 1958. These wicked anti-Catholics might revel in their blasphemies now, but in this filth they've unwittingly planted the very seeds of their destruction.
And before long, the Church will again proclaim: HABEMUS PAPUM!

O'Reily gives the excuse that the archbishop is "old", as though that was suppose to be a valid reason for giving these sodomites communion.
He just didn't want to place the blame where it belonged. What was he afraid of?
Anyone going up to receive Communion dressed like trick or treaters is reason enough to refuse them Communion, there is NO excuse for this bishop. If they are all gays there at that parish and/or the parishoners either welcome or don't care about these Sodom & Gomorrah parades every year, then Rome Must Close this Abomination of a "parish"!

is it any wonder that millions have abandoned the catholic church. the church has lost its ways , the bishops and cardinals as well as most priests no longer represent our Lord Jesus Christ, the invalid mass is just that , invalid.
Therefore the prophecies are being fullfilled , the whore is salivating her conquests and those who have drunk of her iniquities will surely be put to the sword.
When will the Vatican ever wake up to her errors and misjudgement?. How long will the true believers and they that hold true to the real church hold out , rest assured though that the real church that Jesus built will remain and not even the gates of hell will prevail.

The SF sacrilege is just a diversionary tactic like the clown at the circus to keep traditional Catholics from doing anything about the SSPX which has been recently discovered to be a fraud from the beginning, with all the same roots as Vatican II itself. Since Lefebvre was not validly ordained (the consecrating bishop arranged for BOTH his priestly and episcopal consecrations was not a member of the Church), none of his orders are valid so their priests and bishops are just laymen.
