Thomistic,
I am convinced from just that little snippet on John Mcain that he is not pro-life.
He thinks that if Roe vs Wade is repealed tomorrow that 1000's of young girls would get illegal back street abortions.
This is simply baloney.
The majority of women obey the law of the land and most women would think twice about killing their babies if abortion were illegal, be it tomorrow or a year from now.
The facts simply point out this truth.
Thomistic, Is Alan Keyes the only 100% pro-life candidate out there?
I have called Judy Browns "pro-life" organization and asked which candidate is 100% prolife. Their Lawyer, Anthony somebody, told me that for legal purposes he is not allowed to tell me who is pro-life! What the Hell!
I also called Human Life International and they told me the same thing!
I have no idea who I and my family should vote for.
If this is the way the "pro-life" movement is run, than we will NEVER have a pro-life president.
What should I do to find out which candidate supports ALL babies lives in their moms wombs.
Is it Alan Keyes?
Help!
God bless you.

Atlanta Catholic

Thomistic,

Many years ago I met a woman who had an abortion at the age of seventeen. She was a cheerleader and the father of the baby was the star football player. The father of the football player, (an M.D.) paid for the abortion.

The woman had a conversion and came back to the faith. One of the catalysts was a priest who spoke with her, seemed to be the only one who did not whitewash the seriousness of her abortion. She ended up going to confession to this priest. She became very active in pro-life. She regretted not trusting God in her trials.

The reason I am bringing this up is that the doctor who performed her abortion was Edward Allred. She remembered the awful day that she allowed herself to be treated with such disregard in the name of choice. She remembered wanting to tell the doctor to stop. She said that she was screaming inside with fear. When the abortion was complete, Dr. Edward Allred cavalierly said to her, "Well, in case you wanted to know, that was a little boy".

These were the words that have haunted this woman for her entire life. She reflected on the callousness of her baby's grandfather, who paid to have his own grandson executed. She received counseling to help her with her tremendous guilt and pain. She named her son and she prays for him. She mentions that name when she gives pro-life talks.

This is the work of Dr. Edward Allred. John McCain looses all credibility when he takes blood money. At least when McCain was a prisoner of war, he had been allowed the right to life so he could survive and speak of the evils he faced. The innocent and helpless unborn are not that fortunate.

One of the most compelling remarks that ths woman said was "If there had been only one pro-life person standing outside, she would have run to them. She wanted to be helped. She would have listened. Where were they?"

Thanks be to God, this woman has felt the forgiveness and mercy of God. She has not forgotten her little boy. She places all of her trust in the ocean of God's Mercy.

Thank you, to all of the pro-life workers who stand outside abortion mills and show the presence of Christ working through them. You are needed.

Good words Atlanta Catholic. Thank you.

Dr. Edward Allred was quoted in the San Diego Union as saying, “Population control is too important to be stopped by some right wing pro-life types. Take the new influx of Hispanic immigrants. Their lack of respect for democracy and social order is frightening. I hope I can do something to stem that tide; I’d set up a clinic in Mexico for free if I could.” [The actual quote was in the Union on Oct. 12, 1980.]

So much for Republican “outreach” to Latinos. Maybe their slogan should be, “Reach out and abort someone.”

In California, more than half of all abortions are performed on Latinos. At bottom, it’s whites getting rich killing Latinos. The babies’ remains then are desecrated by mad scientists — mostly white — for use in Frankenstein-like stem-cell “research,” funded by $6 billion from our taxes, thanks to Prop. 71, which was supported by Gov. Arnold.

This is a really disgusting man. Many of us have always known that one of the big pushes behind abortion is racism and that women of color are always a big target of this group. It's rare that they admit it in such a candid and disgusting way that shows their contempt for life. Between that and Atlanta Catholic's post my skin just crawled. Lord have mercy . . .

I have been trying to make myself like McCain (I voted for Huckabee, because of his stances on homeschooling, divorce, Fair Tax--a tax which makes professional criminals pay their fair share--and health care).

But I can't. God has blessed me with what I call "spiritual radar". It's not an "everyday" thing, but I get the occasinoal spiritual warning or the occasional sense of a person's soul.
McCain has always struck me as "creepy" and black-hearted. My wife's aunt lives in Arizona, is a Republican, and has met McCain in person, and she agrees with me.

WHY is it that all the data we see during a given time says "X is entirely pro-life. Look at his voting record. Look how much NARAL hates him. Blah, Blah, Blah. Read his position on life issues." Then, voila, someone pulls a lever and
another pro-lifer us shown as false.
Will the real pro-life candidate please stand up?

joanne

That "little snippet" was from 1999. If it's not in line with what McCain professes today, I don't count it heavily against him. I may have said the same thing in 1999!!
With pro-life issues in particular, I do think we have to take into account the time it takes many of us to become uncompromisingly pro-life. Most of us have been indoctrinated by "choice" in some way; the road back to the truth of Life is sometimes long. I don't know of anyone who has ever reverted, though.

Karen

OK .... so it's from 99 ... but that shows his lack of longevity for this "conviction"
