Cardinal Marc Ouellet (above) says that the "real problem is the spiritual vacuum created by a religious and cultural rupture, by the substantial loss of memory, which leads to a crisis in the family and in education, leaving citizens disoriented, dispirited, vulnerable to instability and attracted to fleeting and superficial values."

I have no idea what that means (above). But, many of us believe the real problem is that the Church dropped the ball after Vatican II. If there is a rupture, it is in the Church's tradition.

James Rich

Ah, how about the "real problem" being that people don't believe in God anymore, don't listen to his dictates, and therefore more people are going to hell, "which also leads to the crisis in family and in education." I find that a more compelling, straight-forward explanation of things than some generic lament of deteriorating Canadian culture.

I would have to pay attention to and research these stories but I realize there is a long history of the faith in Quebec, they have famous religious landmarks and shrines there ( here is http://www.ssadb.qc.ca/en/index.htm for St. Anne de Beaupre )

It is interesting that the French Catholic influence felt in Quebec must be in parts, the same felt into the USA I would believe, to Louisiana, to St. Louis, to Detroit and clearly here in Minneapolis/St. Paul: one of the early missionaries being Father Hennepin who was actually a Belgian.

Cardinal Marc Oullett is 'almost' describing the universal, "diabolical disorientation" that Sister Lucy of Fatima spoke of. This has nothing to do with generic lamenting if you read the words of Sister Lucy below. Did Cardinal Marc Oullett once mention the weapon needed? Has Cardinal Oullet also become a victim of disorientation when he fails to address the cure?

In many of her letters Sister Lucy of Fatima referred to the diabolical disorientation within the Catholic hierarchy. Sister Lucy wrote to a priest-nephew.

"May your apostolate, like that of all our missionary brothers and sisters, be for souls the light of Faith which guides them on the way of Truth, Hope and Love! This light which our Lord speaks to us about in His Gospel: 'You are the 'light' of the world, and the 'salt' of the earth.'It is necessary for this purpose, not to be led by the doctrines of disoriented disputants.
The campaign is diabolical. We must stand up to it, without placing ourselves in conflict. We MUST RECITE the Rosary every day to arm us, foreseeing these days of diabolical campaign."

Sister Lucy also wrote "It is painful to see such a great disorientation and in so many persons who occupy places of responsibility. It is because the devil has succeeded in infiltrating evil under the cover of good and the blind are beginning to guide others, as the Lord tells us in His Gospel, and souls are letting themselves be deceived....This is why the devil has waged such a war against the Rosary. And the worst is that he has succeeded in leading into error and deceiving souls having a heavy responsibility through the place which they occupy....! They are blind men leading other blind men."

"Foreseeing this disorientation the Blessed Virgin recommended recitation of the Rosary with such insistence, and since the Rosary is, after the Holy Eucharistic liturgy, the prayer most apt for preserving faith in souls. The devil has unchained his struggle against it. We must defend souls against the errors which can make them stray from the good road. We cannot and must not stop ourselves, nor allow, as Our Lord says, the children of the Darkness to be wiser than the children of Light. The Rosary is our most powerful weapon for defending ourselves on the field of battle."

How "POWERFUL" it would be to hear "ANY" Cardinal repeat those instructive words of Sister Lucy who 'heard and saw' Our Lady of Fatima. The silence should compel us to reflect on all of her words.

Atlanta Catholic:

It would be interesting to search to see how many "Fatima" postings there are in this blog. October 13th is... already monday. I have read much on Fatima, I respect it's message.

But for everyone, I still wonder at times, how we are dealing with 3 children who inititally saw the apparition and if I understand it correctly, Lucy, just one person, maybe Blessed Lucy nowadays, is the one who relates most of the messages.

I know, we have the Miracle of the Sun and Blessed Jacinta being close to corrupt but there are many different facets of Fatima to wonder about.

StevieG

Jacinta being close to incorrupt when she was exhumed back when my post should have read. Who knows.

What is exciting is this Woman from India who I believe is going to be canonized or beatified on Sunday, I think a Nun but not Mother Teresa. Some young boy became healed visiting her tomb I read.

Canada went with Europe with switching to relativism and atheism and liberalism. That is why Canada does not have the grace of God. Ecce Agnus Dei et purga patriae.

Our own Parish, in Colorado Springs, CO, USA is experiencing a 32% INCREASE in Mass attendance. Don't fret. I'm 28, young, staunchly conservative, Catholic, and I have 5 wonderful children (so far) who will probably be the same types of parents my wife and I are (firm, loving, demanding, and attentive).

We just simply outproduce the secular progressives!

I didn't watch a whole lot of the Pope's visit to the USA on EWTN unfortunately: but I understand the Pontiff found it exciting that he saw Churches packed, that it was very different than at least much of Europe.

Italy, Spain, Portugal and Poland all are probably still very fervent in Catholicism. I've heard there has been a wain in popularity in Ireland, though I don't know to what extent.

Canada is a socialist country that has replaced God with everything else. We Catholics in Canada have abdicated our duty to pray and protest about abortions gay marriage euthanasia and who knows what else.
We do not have rosary rallies and fasting to even make reparations for the sins of our land and country. how then can we expect God to pour out graces on us.

You should really change the name of this blog to the "Holier Than Thou Self-Righteous I've Got All The Answers Hate Blog" It would really be a more accurate revelation of what your blog is all about. Your hate and name-calling doesn't deserve the name "Roman Catholic."

Well sir, that is why America is so great because we have the most faith in God. You should feel patriotic about your country. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Atlanta Catholic

Jake, You need many prayers. You are too jubilant about your false god called the Democratic Party with their proud platform of death. The only thing that has obviously faded Jake is your own humanity and compassion for the Canadian and American unborn. No matter who is elected Jake... "The gates of hell will not prevail" and..... we love that fact!!!!!

Atlanta Catholic

Jake, If you think that you are the symbol of what is right and good with America.... you can continue to laugh while I continue to pray for you. Prayers are never ever wasted! Even for the living dead!
