From President Obama's just finished Inaugural speech.
"We will return science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders..."
He was more explicit on December 20, 2008 when he said :
"Whether it’s the science to slow global warming; the technology to protect our troops and confront bioterror and weapons of mass destruction; the research to find life-saving cures; or the innovations to remake our industries and create twenty-first century jobs—today, more than ever before, science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation...."
"Because the truth is that promoting science isn’t just about providing resources—it’s about protecting free and open inquiry. It’s about ensuring that facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology. It’s about listening to what our scientists have to say, even when it’s inconvenient—especially when it’s inconvenient. Because the highest purpose of science is the search for knowledge, truth and a greater understanding of the world around us. That will be my goal as President of the United States—and I could not have a better team to guide me in this work."
Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but when I hear "science" in these absolute contexts, I immediately think of the threat to "life."
Hi Loyolalaw98;
Is the above photo one of an aborted fetus or is it simply one of a fetus that died of natural causes and which is preserved for medical purposes in much the same way that cadavers are preserved and used for medical school curriculums?
If the former is the case, then that is just plain and simply sad. The precious body of this aborted fetus is on display just as if it was a tadpole or juvenile amphibian soaked in formaldihyde in a gradeschool science class room.
I am deeply aware of the festivities going on in downtown Washington DC as I can hear the TV in the back ground. I have first hand experience with all of the road closings and out of state car license plates this past weekend and yesterday and today since I live a short 15 miles West of Washington DC. However, we cannot let the festivities and talk of a new era blind us to the movement for potentially extreme legislature that may be proposed such as the possible upcomming Freedom of Choice Act.
If Our Lady in Heavan can appear to the three children at Fatima crying profusely over the fate of sinners and over the fate of human civilization, then she still has a fully human affective nature and other fully human psychodynamic personality traits. What will be Her reaction if the Freedom of Choice Act is eventually passed?
Regards;
Jim

God is still the "Driver in Charge!" It will help us if we buckle up our spiritual seat belts for the rough road ahead.

I found this line totally ironic:
"We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."
Even he realizes that we will defeat him and his party of death.

Atlanta Catholic is right but isn't it marvellous that we can have total trust in our driver?

Hi, I am a roman catholic whose faith is hurt ,knowing that one of my co workers is "DATING" an actively practicing parish priest.everyone else in the office know all obout this priest but me. This week, the "couple" will leave to a Greek Cruise. Anyone on my shoes, what would you do apart from the advice that the priest should denounce his vows if he wants to be in a relationship?Help, it's ruining my faith!
